Exercise Programs

Exercise is the best way for children with cystic fibrosis – who spend much of their time reacting to their disease with medication and therapy – to decrease shortness of breath, lessen muscle deterioration, and possibly add years to their lives.

“Exercise is essential for the health and well-being

of children with cystic fibrosis”

Swimming is especially recommended for children with cystic fibrosis because it has been shown to be a very effective natural means of loosening mucus. Other forms of aerobic exercise also increase airflow and decrease respiratory distress.

The Child Life Society buys exercise equipment (e.g., treadmill, foot-propelled scooters) for home use, makes arrangements and underwrites the cost of various exercise programs for Jewish children with cystic fibrosis.

Your generous donation helps Jewish children
with cystic fibrosis strengthen their minds and bodies.
