Lung Transplant Funding

While the cost of a lung transplant is usually covered by medical insurance, the cost of maintaining family stability is not.

“A lung transplant can

cost over 375,000 dollars...
and a family's stability."

Between traveling to different cities, the exhausting pace of medical appointments, and living with the dread of organ rejection, the process takes a dreadful toll on families.

But compounding the emotional stress of the lung-transplant process is the inevitable loss of earnings. Personal bankruptcy, loss of a job and home, and the depletion of personal savings often cause divorce and irreparable harm to families.

The Child Life Society, through its Lung Transplant Fund, steps in to provide essential financial and emotional support. The fund eases the burden so parents can afford extra help, pay bills, and keep households and marriages intact.

In spite of the stress and fear associated with a lung transplant, the Child Life Society keeps families together.

Better health for a CF child should not come at the expense of a secure family.
